As the holidays approached this year and we were busy filling stockings and putting presents under the tree for those we loved, we felt it was the perfect time to also give a thought to those who struggle to get through the holiday season. Just as we were thinking about what we could do as a company to give back, an email popped into my inbox, it said: The UberSLEIGH is coming to town!
Uber is a great example of using mobile technology to improve upon an everyday service. By downloading their app you can hail a taxi at the click of a button, see who will be picking you up, the route they are taking to get to you, the distance they are away from you in minutes, and at the end of your trip you rate your experience to ensure its been up to par. Even better, the entire experience is cashless, a receipt and ride summary appears in your inbox once you have arrived at your destination, no more loosing receipts or worrying about cash on hand.
This holiday season, Uber used their service to give back. On December 19th Uber transformed its fleet of SUV’s into “sleighs” and picked up toys, free of charge, from individuals and companies around the city and dropped them off to the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish Toy Drive. We could not think of a better program to get behind for the holidays. Navantis employees came together to collect a slew of toys, hailed our UberSleigh, and hopefully put a smile on the faces of a few families.
